Just two weeks after the Skyrunning World Championships in Chamonix, the Skyrunner® World Series headed out to the stunning location of Val d’Isère for the 65 km Ice Trail Tarentaise and the VK Face Bellevarde.

Brand leader and Skyrunner® World Series partner, COMPRESSPORT®  once again lined up a top quality field of runners who did battle over the tough and technical terrain of the French Alps.

Spaniard Jordi Bes-Ginesta topped the COMPRESSPORT®  performances at Ice Trail Tarentaise. Looking calm and relaxed all day, Jordi ran a smart race and followed up his 17th place at Transvulcania La Palma and outright victory at Volta Cerdanya Ultrafons 87km with a 9th place at Ice Trail Tarentaise.

The Southern Hemisphere European onslaught continued with Caine Warburton who completed a trio of stunning Australian performances at the World Championships placing 13th in Val D’Isère. In his own words, ‘I have learned a lot about Alpinism and high-mountain running today, lessons that will serve me well into the future.’

Frenchman Martin Gaffuri post race expressed his happiness at placing 20th in such a strong field. ‘I didn’t have the legs today after running a strong race in Chamonix just 2-weeks ago, so, I’m happy.’

Australian, Scott Hawker has already had a stunning start to 2014 placing 5th at Tarawera in New Zealand and 5th at Hong Kong 100. A force to be reckoned with and a rising star in the trail and ultra world, Scott was looking to continue a great season and excellent form at Ice Trail Tarentaise. A recent 7th place at Lavaredo Ultra Trail in the Dolomites was a sure sign that the ‘Aussie’ has adapted to European mountain racing. However, during the race he knew that his legs weren't going to give him the result he wanted, so instead of pushing himself to breaking point he decided to make the most of it and enjoy the adventure and place 31st.

The ‘Aussie’ duo once again wore green and gold, COMPRESSPORT®  R2 Calf Sleeves, COMPRESSPORT®  Trail 4 Quad Sleeves and , COMPRESSPORT®  Trail Socks in Val d’Isère. The COMPRESSPORT®  medical graded fiber is designed to reduce shock waves and vibrations generated when running on hard ground and thereby preventing tearing of muscle fibers and joint pains. This gives rise to efficiency against aches, contractures, micro tears delaying muscle fatigue and the risk of injury. To quote one athlete, ‘Compressport gives a feeling of strength, rigidity and support of muscles during any effort.’

Frenchman Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz placed 7th at the Skyrunning World ULTRA Championships confirming, COMPRESSPORT®  as the dominant and go to choice for the worlds best trail and mountain runners looking for medical compression. Maximizing recovery and form, Aurelien raced the Face Bellevarde Vertical Kilometer® in Val d’Isère. The VK is a lung and quad-busting ascent of 1000m over a distance of 2.9 km starting at the foot of the Face de Bellevarde Olympic ski run.  Aurelien placed a creditable 15th in a distance far removed from the 80km raced just two weeks earlier.

COMPRESSPORT® a brand which already counts nine world championship titles in other sports, added a 10th title in Chamonix when Elisa Desco was crowned Skyrunning World Champion for the SKY distance.

Developing medically researched compression, COMPRESSPORT®  is at the forefront of fulfilling the needs of demanding athletes all over the world. The new TRAIL running line of products will enhance performance and improve recovery offering shorts, T-shirts, quad sleeves, R2 calf sleeves and socks specifically for trail running.
