Following on from the recent publication of the SKY ranking, the ISF is pleased to announce the names of the top 100 men and 50 women in the 2014 ULTRA ranking. VK rankings will follow.

The ISF ranking uses a proprietory algorithm, which, as announced at the launch in 2013, will reach completion after three years’ analysis.

In its first year, among the various parameters, the calculation of the points took into account only the presence, or absence, of elite athletes as there were no points available. At the end of 2013, it was possible to use the points of the elite athletes in the 2014 calculation.

In 2014, the points of the first 30 men and 15 women in each event listed were counted.

The 2014 ULTRA ranking is based on the results of 34 races disputed in five continents (18 in Europe, ten in N America, two in Asia, two in Oceania and two in Africa). A total of 1747 athletes (1210 men and 537 women) from 51 countries were examined.

In 2014 alone (not counting the overall or 2013 results), the best athletes were, in order, men:  Francois D’Haene (FRA), Luis Alberto Hernando (ESP) e Kilian Jornet (ESP), and women: Nuria Picas (ESP), Anna Frost (NZL) ed Emelie Forsberg (SWE).

The aggregate of the 2013 and 2014 points, again confirms Kilian Jornet and Emelie Forsberg on the top rung of the ISF Ultra ranking.
