After the recent SKY and ULTRA rankings published here, the ISF is pleased to announce the names of the top 100 men and 50 women in the 2014 VERTICAL ranking.

The ISF ranking uses a proprietory algorithm, which, as announced at the launch in 2013, will reach completion after three years’ analysis.
In its first year, among the various parameters, the calculation of the points took into account only the presence, or absence, of elite athletes as there were no points available. At the end of 2013, it was possible to use the points of the elite athletes in the 2014 calculation.

In 2014, the points of the first 30 men and 15 women in each event listed were counted.
The 2014 VERTICAL ranking is based on the results of 14 races disputed in two continents. A total of 652 athletes (444 men and 208 women) from 24 countries were examined.

This year, in 2014 alone (not counting the overall or 2013 results), the best athletes were, in order, men: Urban Zemmer (ITA), Kilian Jornet (ESP) and Nejc Kuhar (SLO), and women: Laura Orguè (ESP), Christel Dewalle (FRA) and Stephanie Jimenez (ITA).

The aggregate of the 2013 and 2014 points, again confirms Urban Zemmer and Laura Orguè leading the ISF Vertical ranking.
