Elisa Desco reigned supreme at the 2014 Skyrunning World Championships and added another world title for COMPRESSPORT®, Official Sponsor of the Championships.

3,400 athletes from 47 countries came to Chamonix, the endurance capital of the world, to race over the classic distances of VK, SKY and ULTRA.

COMPRESSPORT® who already sponsor the Skyrunner® World Series fielded a strong team of international athletes. It was Desco from Italy who reigned supreme in the SKY distance to not only gain the world title but add another title to COMPRESSPORT® already impressive tally of 9-world titles in multiple events.

In the ULTRA event COMPRESSPORT® placed no less than four male runners in the to 20 and one female runner, Fernanda Maciel in the top ten. However, much of the talk was about the incredible performances of three young Australians, Ben Duffus, Blake Hose and Caine Warburton who placed 3rd , 6th and 9th. The Aussies came to Chamonix as relative unknowns and now leave as “ones-to-watch” and a sure indication that COMPRESSPORT® have two stars in the making. Frenchmen Aurelien Dunand-Pallaz was an excellent 7th, while  Martin Gaffuri once again showed consistency placing 16th.

Hailing from a medical research background specializing in compression products for sport, COMPRESSPORT® is sold in more than 70-countries and is used by 500 athletes endorsing the product, designed for performance and recovery the Quad Sleeves and R2 Calf Sleeves were the dominant compression brand on display over the weekend of the Skyrunning World Championships.

In the VK, Frenchman William Bon-Mardion flew the COMPRESSPORT® flag placing 15th overall in a fiercely competitive lung and quad bursting exercise in vertical ascent. Roland Claverie placed 29th confirming the brand’s consistency in the world of mountain running.

Jordi Solé, managing director of COMPRESSPORT® International confirmed the cooperation the brand has with athletes, scientists and physicians to ensure COMPRESSPORT® meet athletes demands. ‘We respond to the problems that athletes face daily. COMPRESSPORT® will be present at all the major events in the Skyrunner® World Series where the products will be on show and worn by some of the world’s top trail runners competing in these prestigious events.

Attention now turns to the next Skyrunner® World Series events in Val d’Isère, France, with the spectacular Ice-Trail (65km) and the Face de Bellevarde VK over the weekend of July 11th – 14th.
