COMPRESSPORT® team shines at Transvulcania

The 2015 Skyrunner® World Series kicked off on the volcanic island of La Palma for the 7th edition of what has now become the iconic ultra marathon simply known as Transvulcania.

COMPRESSPORT®ISF partner, COMPRESSPORT® presented a strong field of runners: AURELIEN DUNAND PALLAZ, MANUEL MERILLAS, PAU CAPELL and FRANCOIS FAIVRE.

On a day of heat and high drama, COMPRESSPORT® athletes rose to the challenge of one of the most competitive fields ever assembled on the “Isla bonita”.

Racing was always going to be aggressive and the early race pace was high, forcing the top-20 runners to work hard under intense conditions. Cooler temperatures from an early 0600 start soon subsided as the sun broke through the cloud inversion providing one of those spectacular blue-sky days we have come to expect.

Dunand Pallaz and Merillas matched the early aggressive pace keeping in close contact with the front of the race but by Pico de las Nieves, just as eventual race leader Luis Alberto Hernando forced the pace at the front, the COMPRESSPORT® duo faded a little as the heat took its toll.

Dunand Pallaz fought his way through a tough patch and finished 10th overall in a time of 7:57:37, the fatigue of the effort clearly expressed on his face on the finish line.

Merillas and Capell both held consistent efforts and provided the leading compression sport brand two additional top 20 finishes with Merillas and Capell finishing 18th and 20th respectively.

Attention will now turn to the next race on the Skyrunner® World Series with the iconic Zegama-Aizkorri race on May 17 where COMPRESSPORT® super stars Elisa Desco (2014 Skyrunning World Champion and race winner), Marco De Gasperi and Manuel Merillas will head the world-class line-up.
