COMPRESSPORT® takes on Mont-Blanc skyrunning events |
Leading compression brand, COMPRESSPORT® once again proved that whether racing short or long, it represents the top clinical sport compression product when it comes to racing a tough 1,000m Vertical Kilometer® or a gruelling 80km Ultra. A weekend of Skyrunning took place once again at the endurance capital of the world, Chamonix. home of the 2014 Skyrunning World Championships and for the second year running the Mont-Blanc 80K featured as a Skyrunner® World Series Ultra while the Mont-Blanc KV hosted the European Skyrunning Championships for the Vertical Kilometer® discipline. Alexis Sevennec headed up the COMPRESSPORT® Team with a top quality 14th place in the VK. It was stellar field with 500 runners and the competition was so high that it resulted in a new course record for François Gonon in 34’07”. COMPRESSPORT® Team runners William Bon Mardion placed 25th and, for the ladies, Azara Garcia ranked 5th on the lung-busting 1,000m Vertical Kilometer® course that starts in the centre of Chamonix and culminates at the cable car station in the sky! The Mont-Blanc 80km has gained a reputation for its extreme nature, vertical gain and all around toughness. So it seemed appropriate that COMPRESSPORT® should unleash arguably one of the most respected ultra runners of our time, Sebastien Chaigneau. ‘Seb’ as he is affectionately known, has inspired many a runner to push beyond boundaries and therefore his presence on the 80K start line was significant. In true style, the Frenchman did not disappoint. He was a key protagonist throughout the race and at the finish he placed 10th in what many consider to be one of the strongest ever fields assembled. Francois Faivre backed up Sebs performance placing 48th.
